GIVEAWAY and BOOK REVIEW!!

Here we are kids-

the wait is over!

The fabulous Stacey Trock of Fresh Stitches has gifted us with a copy of her new book,

And what a darling book it is, too!

Bears and Bunnies,

Pigs and Pickups.

I loved the variety of projects in this book.
Stuffed animals, blankets, hats and even bibs!

I also enjoyed the themes she put together so you could give, say, a pair or a trio of gifts to the same child for an extra special heirloom gift.

An "Adorable Annie" stuffed birdie would go great with the Hoodie Bird Blanket, don't you think?

Or how about the Bunny Rabbit/Polar Penguin/Kitty Cat Hat ensemble?

All patterns came complete with full color photos and stitch illustrations.

I've purchased patterns from Stacey before (Hello, Jackie!) and she always does such a good job of explaining her patterns. She will also warn you if a tricky part is coming up and what to watch out for.

Are you chomping at the bit yet? Wanna know how you can get one of these fabulous books for your very own?

Just visit Stacey Trock's FreshStitches.com and come back here to tell us which of her amigurumi creations was your favorite!(Yes, you may enter again if you post this contest on your own blog, and Yes, you may enter again if you Tweet about this contest!)

The Grand Prize Winner will be chosen at random to recieve a free *SIGNED* copy of Cuddly Crochet!
Or, if you just can't wait, look for

LOST

Previously, on

LOST

Are you a "Lostie"?

Do you recognize this guy?

That's right! It's 'Hugo Reyes'

aka

"Hurley"!

Well, sometime ago,

in a search for something to do while recovering from

Carpal Tunnel
(ouch)

I joined a book reviewers club.

This book club was the esteemed and reputable Thomas Nelson Book Review Bloggers.

Sounds rather, posh doesn't it?

(In the meantime they've changed the name to 'BookSNEEZE'

("Milk-a-what?")

And if you had a blog,

a desire to recieve free books

and the ability to opine on said free books,

well then, you were invited to sign up.

So, I did.

:o)

And here's my first selection...

It's called "The Gospel According to LOST" by Chris Seay.

I was so excited! I love the Gospel, I love the TV show LOST, I love free stuff and I love books! How fantastic is this???

Not Very.

I wish I could say I enjoyed it.

I did not.

I am very glad I did not pay for this book. I'm not really sure what I was expecting. Well, yeah, I am. I was expecting to see how the TV show illustrates with all it's plots and subplots, how God works in our lives. I found Mr Seay's style of writing very convoluted and his points at times stretched or forced.

Somewhere along the way...can I say it? His message got LOST.

Tygrlilies' Tribe for Two Thousand Ten!

It's February 1st, PEOPLE!!
Time to turn our mind towards Valentines Day,
Chocolates
(Ghiradelli, darling!)
and Roses
(Feel free to substitute Lilies, honey, just in case you're reading this)
and time for endless airings of the movie "Groundhog Day"
(which, confidentially, I don't really mind)
But mostly,
its...

Time for a new post!!!

It's been two weeks, for crying out loud!!

(But I'm still gonna keep the
Haiti button
up because they still need help
and I'm gonna put up a
Blankets For Chidamoyo
thermometer too
cuz it's my blog and I can ;o)

SO... I'm on this fabulous little networking site

thesitsgirls.com

and I'm told about something called 'a tribe'.

It's a list of 5 sites that I cannot go without reading everyday. Well, Heck! I have to pare it down to 5?? Not so easy to do unless maybe I have a tribe of each of the different subjects I like? Ok, so since this is an Amigurumi site, I'll share with you my 5 favorite crochet/Ami sites.

(and maybe I'll throw in a few of my other faves at the end as well ;o)

My Tribe of Favorite Amigurumi Websites

  1. The Art of Crochet by Theresa-http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2008/04/blog-post_16.html My A-number one favorite site. This gal- with her videos and tutorials- totally taught me how to crochet! She even has tutorials for the left-handed crocheter!
  2. Mygurumi-http://mygurumi.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-amigurumi-hair.html This designer is a Biologist from Germany! She's posted some great tutorials for when you want to improve your skillset!
  3. Planet June-http://www.planetjune.com/blog/free-crochet-patterns/mop-top-mascots/ You will love these cute little MopTop Mascots. Take a look around her blog and see some of the other patterns she has for sale. There's some incredible stuff on this site!
  4. Roxycraft/SnowBusiness-Tamie Snow- another great designer. Try your hand at "BunnyBoo" for Easter http://www.roxycraft.com/crochet_bunnyboo.html For the inside scoop on Tamie Snow the fabulous gal herself, go to Snow Business http://tamiesnow.typepad.com/snow_business/
  5. Yummypancake-http://www.mrtoastee.com/ Follow the adventures of Mr Toastee and his friends! (Watch out for the ToasteeZombies!)

And there you have it,

Tygrlilies' Tribe for Two Thousand and Ten!

Haiti Disaster Relief Fund

Tygrlilies
is very grateful
for the outpouring of support in our own
fundraising effort.
We would like to pay it forward.

"Peekaboo Blankets"
(I think they need some new ones, don't you?)
On my Facebook page
I've told my friends that I'd like to

start helping

a particular
AIDS hospital
in Zimbabwe, Africa called
It was the place a dear friend of mine, the late Dave Harrison, used to call home.
Lori Batten is a nurse at the hospital and a fun blogger friend.
I look forward to getting to know her better as I begin to send donations her way.

Well, before we could even get started...

WHAM!

A certain big news story took center stage...

Living here in Southern California, the word 'Earthquake' kinda makes your stomach hurt.

But I can't go to Haiti- and even if I could, I'd probably be more hinderance than help...

But I do have a blog. And I have followers!

"YEAY, YOU! "

So if each of my followers took that button and placed it on their blog, then somebody somewhere down the line is bound to donate some money, right? Well, how about we go one better?

Order a Tygrlilies Doll for $50 and help support

Haiti Disaster Relief

and

Chidamoyo Hospital.

50% of all proceeds from Doll sales during the month of January will go to
Haiti Disaster relief.

25% will be going to

Chidamoyo Christian Hospital Blanket Drive.

(Of course, you could also contact these organizations directly

and 100% of your donation would go to them- I won't mind ;o)

*OR*
you can donate $10 to the American Red Cross by texting “Haiti” to 90999.

As of today, this tool has raised $3 million for the Haiti earthquake relief efforts.

Give your loved ones an extra kiss tonite.
